I was in a pretty bad mental state during the winter of 2023… The first semester of college had been pretty tough for me. Though the high points were high, the stress of finding a sense of belonging in a new community, school work, and a breakup made me yearn for home.

I felt a temporary sense of relief when I flew home over winter break. Though I mainly grew up in Hong Kong, Shanghai felt like my true home. I came across a beautiful tree, and I started to draw. Bit by bit, detail by detail, the tree became its own world.
