Takeaways
Working as the solo designer at Scaling Reviews, I learned how to move quickly and make decisions with limited information. The fast-paced startup environment encouraged me to move fast, communicate clearly with devs and founders, and iterate rapidly based on user feedback. Starting off from an intern position, I was handling everything from user research to UI/UX design to prototyping, all the while balancing business needs and user experience. Most importantly, I learned the value of shipping early, learning from mistakes, and adapting quickly to change.
As I continued working alongside Marta and Edo, I began to realize just how much there is to consider in the design process. Design isn’t just about creating something that makes sense to me. It’s about making it understandable and usable for people with different backgrounds, experiences, and ways of thinking. Not everyone shares the same education or perspective, so I’ve learned to communicate ideas more clearly and design with empathy. Now, as a lead designer still working with Marta and Edo to expand Scaling Reviews in Europe, Australia, and Hong Kong, I approach design with a broader mindset—balancing creativity with clarity, and always keeping diverse users in mind.
